American Legion.

-          Better late than never?

President Elect Todd was substituting for President Jon who was off watching some tennis games.

 Ross Gibson will be the greeter on 9/11/13.  Sorry, that is old news.

Ellen is the scribe on 9/11/13.  At least this is being published before her report. 

Absent:  Not many;  Mark Ethier, Arden and Bob Fagelson, Jerry Goldberg, Erich Hoyer, Sandy Ladd, Tom McRae.

Announcements: Toni announced we are raising $10.50 a member for Polio Plus.  The money is due by October 24, World Polio Day, but please pay now.  The money raised will be matched. 

Old News:  Touch a Truck.  It was fun.

Damon had greetings from former members:  Jon Shaeffer and Dave Coughlin.

Birthdays:  Ali, Pete, Jill and Tristian. 

Cards:    $11.  8 of hearts.  You all lose, losers. 

Bowl of Life:  This person’s graffiti appeared in Time Magazine.  Ralph was the correct answer.  A High School prank on rival High School, St. Albans appeared in the background photo of Jimmy Carter’s daughter.  A big L. 

Brags: 

 

-Damon:  For Champion Overhead Doors who fixed their door after a tractor accident.

And for Brattleboro Tire for the use of a Chevy Cavalier which Damon managed to get into an auto accident.  No loaner car for Damon from now on. 

And for his son Aiden, who is starting hockey already. 

-          Josh:  For Tristian and great coffee.

And also for getting to run the length of the field at the Shoe at Ohio State.  Go Buckeyes. 

 

-          Valerie:  A bill she worked on just got signed into law changing “reduced price lunch” to “free lunch.” 

-          Evy Woliver:  This weekend they visited John’s family and she got to see a 5 day old golden retriever puppy in Plymouth. 

-          Ellen:  Bragged for Peter’s shoes, a birthday present from Toni.

And for Brattleboro Ford.  On Sunday, Oct. 27, if you test drive a Ford; they will donate $100 to the Hospital.

-Dan:  For Brattleboro Ford/Subaru.  Nancy bought an “awesome rig” from Jason.  A BMW 531 si.

- Linda:  Had fun whale watching in Wells.  Now, say that 10 times quickly.

Valerie introduced the speaker Mollie Burke:  Noting there was no microphone.  Good “I have a loud voice.”

 

Mollie talked about her program:  Art in the Neighborhood.  It has existed since 2008.  Provides art classes in Clark/Canal Street, Ledgewood and elsewhere.  Got a Vt. Community Foundation grant.  Their art appears in the Hanna Cosman Room, in the Transportation Center.  They hire Joan Peters who helps teach the classes.
