Last week’s social with Noon club: was really awesome, handful of sunrisers - FOUR superstars went from our club - maybe we can have social and invite them?

 

This past Monday’s Trivia Night: Dan and Michelle were on the winning team; record attendance 49 people - Jim was fantastic as emcee; benefitted Youth Services; next Trivia Night is November 9th! Thanks for all the help.

 

Club Assembly: If you weren’t at last week’s meeting, you should join a committee - good idea for committee heads to reach out to committees and report back to the group.

 

Dinner Raffle Tix: Toni said we need one more $100 gift certificate - who said they would get Peter Haven’s; we have 4 gift certificates need one more - Jerry will try to get Peter Havens gift certificate. Maybe a poster would help solicit the gifts.

Dan: Michelle and her mom and dad and her friend, Bev won trivia night!!!!! Anybody can win!!!! They donated their winnings back to Youth Services.

 

Josh: SOS shelter; seasonal overflow shelter will start on the 15th. Groundworks is looking for shift workers, contact Groundworks. They use volunteers for this!!!

Rescue: Dan, Jon and Toni team; they raised a bunch of money and are still walking. The course was really intense. These Rescue folks do this kind of stuff on a daily basis rescuing people

 

John: went to hs reunions; to student rotarians 40 years go fast!

Retreat: Gala at Hilltop Montessori - Saturday night.

Masa and Jill’s mother in law will spend lots of time together she’s visiting from Morocco for 3 months

Olive oil is finally here! She’ll bring some in next week!

Event: 6-8 Latchis documentary called Mislead - about woman whose children were lead poisoned. Fish band member will be there to talk about his experience.

Rescue: to the Rotary team and his team - he’s still sore - His team won the wordles contest??? word scramble contest at the

 

Tristam:

Went to Evanston Il. two weeks ago. Rotary International headquarters. He’s off to Detroit for training and then to Mexico

 

Toni: next week she’s going to OK. to see her daughter graduate basic training. She’ll be off to VA for more training. She loves it.

Our adventure team! How could that be 6 miles? It was a long day but so much fun! It was soooo cold. Apparently Dan has scars. We’ll take his word for it.

 

Tristam: interesting statue in front of Rotary international - Paul Harris giving a child polio vaccine - artist was a Native American how ironic that his people were annihilated by Americans and yet he created this lovely piece of art celebrating saving children around the world

 

Kevin: wonderful group of student Rotarians; we want to get a photo before you go today.

 

Ally: outpouring of support for NEButchers after the flood in the building; many thanks.

 

Guest Speaker: Marcy!!!!! She’s obsessed with Halloween! She and her husband built a haunted house in their driveway. When they moved into town they realized they were going to get trick or treaters. She grew up on farm - lots of pumpkins in her childhood. There is a subculture of “home haunters”. They are not the only crazy Halloween people in the world! People really appreciate it - really meaningful to the community. We’re part of someone’s special memories - it’s a gift to our community! Show and tell of some of the things she made. Lighting is key - she brought in some fire and ice lights; sound effects are key.

 

Haunters favorite things to use! Hot glue! pvc creepy candles; Paper towels and shop towels! useful to make skulls - soak the paper in paper mache and use mold. cool. also creepy books - she used the paper towel trick.

 

Great Stuff! foam. She made trees out it!
